John Studebaker, the head of framing at Gail Severn Gallery, has been working with Severn for over two decades, providing closed-corner, double-sided, and other specialty frames and molding as well as pedestals and other displays for three-dimensional artwork. As a professional woodworker, he began making frames 30 years ago at certain artists’ requests, and has immersed himself in the field ever since. Studebaker, who also has a frame-making business in Boise, took over the lead in the restoration department not too long ago. “Seven or eight years ago, the framer had to leave here so Gail called me up and said we’re in a bind. It’s worked for both of us. Now I’m the framer here.”
