“Music was the currency in our family,” says Joey Landreth, one half of the two brothers and one fourth of the members of the band The Bros. Landreth. Growing up in a family with members who sang, played guitars, and performed as working musicians, brothers Joey and Dave found themselves thrown into it; there was never really an option to become anything other than musicians. After being close for years in their youth, and then a period when each brother separately backed musicians in various places, Joey called Dave to get together to write music during their down time off the road. After what was initially just an excuse to hang out with his brother turned into a great writing session, the two decided to form The Bros. Landreth.
The result? A band of Canadians that, according to Rolling Stone: “dish up some of the best Southern-style blues with a quiet storm of slide guitar solos, blue notes, and three-part harmonies.” Their first album, Let It Lie, is a collection of 9 songs (Canadian release) or 11 songs (American release) with a brotherly mix of autobiographical influence and poetic lyrics.Their musical included a childhood in the musical petri dish of Winnipeg and touring to becoming independent musicians, and The Bros. Landreth is now landing on the charts, in cities, and at the Sun Valley Opera House September 26.
