The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley’s new building feels miles away from their existing shelter on Croy Creek Road in Hailey. In reality, the aging shelter, inadequately sized and challenging to maintain, is close enough to hear dogs barking in the outdoor kennels. Even under construction, the new 30,000-square-foot building is impressive, a fitting home for an organization known for its modern approach to a 46-year-old humane mission.
