With a career that includes decades of films that push the envelope for women’s roles, including her most recent virtual reality film, Dear Angelica, and the efforts of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media toward balancing the world of female characters in children’s film and television, the recognition lauds Geena Davis for her contributions both as an artist and change-maker.
