The Board Bin slides and rolls with new owners and a new look by Raine Kidder and photos Tessa Sheehan

The friendly takeover of the Board Bin, a Ketchum institution, took place this past fall by locals Quinn Baser and David Kelso. Opened by Jim Slanetz and Karin Reichow in 1988 the Board Bin, the oldest specialty board shop in the Northwest, has been a place of kinship for skate and snowboarding enthusiasts, and over the years grown into an example of local involvement and community leadership. A befitting sendoff ensued with the Board Bin’s annual 4th Street Party and 30th anniversary celebration that coincided with the passing of the torch to the new owners. Shortly thereafter, the doors where closed and within a matter of days re-opened with a fresh look and renewed energy.
