A Community-Led Restoration Breathes Life into Historic Ski Hut
Pioneer Cabin, a historic ski hut in the heart of the Pioneer Mountains, has been a welcome site for visitors for over 80 years. The hut is perched on a 9,460-foot saddle and boasts a heady view of soaring peaks, and reaching it requires determination, sweat, and an adventurous spirit. And many have found that the phrase painted on the roof of the cabin in blocky, white letters is true: “The higher you get, the higher you get.”
