Music Magic: The Sun Valley Summer Symphony Librarian Makes Her Mark by Jo Murray

Just before the Sun Valley Summer Symphony begins to play in the orchestra festival on August 4, a slim brunette will walk onto the stage and place the score for “Elevation: Paradise” on Music Director Alasdair Neale’s podium.

Then, that brunette, Deanna Immel, Sun Valley Summer Symphony Librarian, might be justified in taking a deep breath and relaxing for a moment. But she probably won’t have time until after the Symphony ends for the season.

So what exactly does she do in the job she has held for 20 years? Far more than simply cataloging the collection of music and bringing the score to the conductor, the librarian’s scope of work might well be described as the heartbeat of the Sun Valley Summer Symphony.
