In 1979, Walt Femling was on a ski trip in the Valley when he heard an ad on KSKI about an opening at the Ketchum Police Department. He got the job, and after seven years at KPD, he was appointed Sheriff of Blaine County, where he remained until retiring in 2011. He then became the Sun Valley Police Chief.
