SUN VALLEY, ID. Dust off those folding lawn chairs and pull out the family picnic blanket: Summer Symphony Season is here! And with another star-studded lineup on tap, this year’s Orchestra Festival is slated for a larger-than-life opening act.
On Monday, August 1, the highly anticipated production of Stravinsky’s The Firebird will alight on the Pavilion stage. A collaboration between the Sun Valley Summer Symphony and the internationally acclaimed South African troupe, Handspring Puppet Company (the same name behind the 2011 Broadway smash hit War Horse, among others), The Firebird reinterprets the Slavic folktale using life-sized puppets and contemporary South African dance set to Stravinsky’s classic score.
